DON’T JUST LEARN A LANGUAGE— LIVE IT!

Levenger Master Class™ presents How to Learn a Language for Life, the workbook and step-by-step guide that will quickly become your lifelong language-learning companion. America the Bilingual’s founder, Steve Leveen, and multilingual entrepreneur Akshay Swaminathan co-created this interactive workbook. It transforms your language learning into your personal journey—one grounded in research, practical tools, and ongoing discovery.

Whether you’re learning a language for the first time, trying for the third time, or reviving a language you once spoke, this workbook offers the structure, flexibility, and inspiration you need to make lasting progress.

LEARN METHODS PROVEN TO WORK

Many language learners get hung up trying to decide which software or course is best. Instead, learn how Steve’s Adopted Language Method™ encourages you to try as many methods as you can along your journey, marking and celebrating your progress as you go.

Akshay, whom you met in Episode 76 of our podcast, outlines his equally successful methodology of training muscle memory, with exercises and milestones that you customize to your goals.

THE CIRCA SYSTEM GIVES YOU MAXIMUM FLEXIBILITY FOR CUSTOMIZING YOUR WORKBOOK

Levenger Master Class workbooks use the company’s popular Circa notebook system, which lets you move pages at will thanks to the discs that keep a secure but flexible grip on your pages.

The workbook features 15 tabbed sections that each explore a different topic to help you become the best language learner possible. These range from using call-and-response techniques and AI tutors, to mastering reading and enriching your travels with authentic conversation.

Each section helps you not just study your language but live it.

Created for real-world, lifelong learning, How to Learn a Language for Life supports your learning goals with innovative ways to track your progress. There’s also plenty of space for notes, reflections, discoveries and daily delights along the way.

“REAL-WORLD LEARNING AT ITS BEST!”

That’s how Stanford’s professor emerita Guadalupe Valdés describes the workbook.

Even if you’ve been frustrated before and concluded that you’re just not good at languages, try this step-by-step workbook that’s designed for all learning levels, from beginner to near-fluent speaker. It’s your passport to lifelong fluency and the larger life that you rightly sense is awaiting.

MEET THE AUTHORS

Steve Leveen made Spanish his adoptive language in midlife, a journey he recounts in his award-winning book, America’s Bilingual Century . A science writer who took a 25-year hiatus to co-found a retail enterprise called Levenger, Steve devoted two executive-fellowship years at Harvard and Stanford interviewing language scholars and conducting research on bilingualism. He uses his science background to synthesize data and findings into compelling messages for general readers. Steve holds a PhD in Sociology from Cornell.

Akshay Swaminathan is a Knight-Hennessy Scholar and a P.D. Soros Fellow at Stanford University, where he is pursuing an MD and a PhD in biomedical data science. He graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in statistics and a minor in global health and health policy. Inspired by the YouTube multilingual community in high school, Akshay has self-studied over 10 languages and has published books and videos teaching English, Spanish, French, Mandarin and Quechua. He is the founder and CEO of Sabaash, a platform to help language learners get to spoken fluency by training muscle memory. (Sabaash is a term in various Indian languages that means bravo!)
